In every season, the beach is an extremely tactile place. From the
hot
squeaky sand of summer to the sting of cold, wet winter sand like ice
chips
beneath your feet, the beach is more than an environment, it's an experience.
One can spend hours combing the shoreline, critically scouring the
presents
thrown up by the ocean, occasionally bending to handle an impossibly
smooth
pebble or to inspect a tiny twisted crab. Broken dishevelled objects
belonging neither to the ocean or the land. To scavenge the water's
edge and
stare into rock pools, unaware of what one might find but delight in
the
search.
This fascination with the seaside is the inspiration for these mixed-media
collages entitled C. Scapes, capturing the essence
of the shoreline
experience.
